Jag är inte tankspridd. Jag är bara extremt fokuserad.

Okej. Vi är utomlands. Vi åt middag på en restaurang. Och absolut, det är mycket möjligt att jag inte lyssnar så uppmärksamt som jag borde när folk pratar med mig medan jag tittar i en meny, men jag gillar menyer. Jag tycker att det är en väldigt underskattad litteraturform.

Så hur som helst. Vi var ett lite större sällskap. Och några i sällskapet hade tydligen beställt spaghetti. Jag hörde inte det. Jag var upptagen med att läsa. För det är faktiskt viktigt att läsa. Själen behöver föda lika mycket som magen, säger filosoferna, och det fina med menyer är att de erbjuder båda. Så nej, jag hörde inte det där om spaghettin.

Men servitören kom i alla fall ut med bestick och en korg bröd och en ganska stor skål parmesanost och ställde alltihop på bordet. Jag ska inte säga att han ställde skålen med parmesanost PRECIS framför mig, men han ställde den liksom lite snett till höger om mig. Det var verkligen inte helt osannolikt att han kanske kunde ha MENAT satt ställa den framför mig men liksom missade lite. Servitörer kan vara väldigt slarviga. Man vet ju hur de håller på.

Så, i alla fall. Hade jag vetat det där om att några i vårt sällskap hade beställt spaghetti så hade jag kanske fattat att en skål fylld av parmesanost var att betrakta som tillbehör till spaghettin som strax skulle komma in på bordet. Men nu visste jag ju inte det. Och en del restauranger har fan skitkonstiga grejer för sig med små mellanrätter och soppor och sorbeter eller vad det nu heter och allt möjligt. Det är inte så lätt att veta. Det var ett enkelt missförstånd och ett misstag som nästan vem som helst hade kunnat göra. Eller kanske inte vem som helst men till exempel vem som helst som verkligen gillar parmesanost.

Det låg en sked i skålen. Skålen innehöll ost. Den stod nästan framför mig. Så jag åt den.

Och när servitören kom tillbaka och undrade vad jag höll på med och jag försökte förklara så tittade en person i vårt sällskap som jag inte kände jättebra sedan tidigare på mig och frågade ”Men alltså, det var en skål med parmesanost, exakt hur tänkte du?”.

Och då vände sig min fru om och svarade lugnt och sansat ”Fredrik? Han tänkte förmodligen: BÄSTA FÖRRÄTTEN NÅGONSIN!”.
