Otur i spel, tur…ist

Jo, hej, godfredag. Det har varit tyst här i ett par dagar, och det beror inte uteslutande på att så många människor hade fel på samma gång om hur man ska uttala ”kex” att internet imploderade, utan även lite på att jag var i London och försökte övertyga folk som bor där om att jag vet vad jag håller på med och att mina böcker är riktiga böcker.

Resan gick bra, tackar som frågar. Bortsett från att jag är svinrädd för att flyga, får panik av flygplatser och drabbas av djup ångest av att bo på hotell själv. Den längsta resan är resan inåt, som Dag Hammarskjöld skrev, men resan till England är fan rätt jävla lång den också om man har lagom mycket tvångstankar och råkar titta på den där dokumentären om Ayrton Senna på vägen och precis när det blev asmycket turbulens så kom eftertexterna där det står ”Senna blev 34 år gammal”. Och jag hade varit 34 år gammal i exakt ett halvt dygn då.

Men inte för att jag har tvångstankar. Jag måste intala mig själv det. Måste. Måste.

Men sen hade de liksom dessutom bäddat sängen på hotellet sådär jättehårt och jag klarar inte av att sova om jag inte kan lyfta på täcket med fötterna, eftersom det känns som att sängen håller på att äta upp mig då, så jag fick liksom ägna en halvtimme efter incheckningen åt att slita upp överkast och täcke och lakan från under madrassen, för information and Fredrik Backman wants to be free liksom, och det var som att försöka få av pappret på såna där runda små jävla Chupa Chups-klubbor. Och sen kom jag tillbaka till hotellet på kvällen och då hade städpersonalen varit där och bäddat sängen en gång till. Så det slutade med att jag sov ovanpå sängen under två handdukar.

Min fru säger att jag har problem, och jag håller med, men vi betonar ordet ”problem” på två helt olika sätt.

Hur som helst: Resan gick bra. Jättebra. Jag är jättebra på att resa. Den PR-ansvariga kvinnan på mitt engelska förlag inledde hela vistelsen med att dricka champagne till lunchen och att tvinga hovmästaren att kalla ut kocken till vårt bord för att hälsa på mig, eftersom hon fick veta att kocken var svensk och då per automatik trodde att vi kände varandra. När jag förklarade att jag har för mig att det finns statistik på att det bor runt 100 000 svenskar i London så konstaterade hon att det var fler svenskar än hon trodde att det bodde i hela Sverige.

Men hon sköter ju bara all PR för alla mina böcker i hela den engelskspråkiga delen av världen. Så vad kan gå fel.

Efter lunchen tog hon hur som helst med mig till en bokaffär som även var en bar, och då kände jag mig faktiskt jävligt besviken på att syokonsulenten på min högstadieskola inte tog sitt uppdrag på allvar och nämnde det här för det hade verkligen kunnat spara mig mycket tid i livet.

Nu ska jag bara övertyga min fru om att det är en bra idé, och jag är inte riktigt säker på om den bästa strategin för det är att förklara att jag vill öppna en bar som även säljer böcker eller att jag vill öppna en bokaffär som även säljer sprit.

Min vän och kontorskollega N och vår gemensamma vän E har i alla fall lovat att hjälpa mig att komponera en meny där olika författare kombineras med lämpliga drinkar.

  1. Reser mycket i tjänsten. När det är läggdags sliter jag också upp täcken och lakan från fotänden. Vem sover med allt fastsatt? Hur funkar det om man inte kan rulla ihop sig som en kokong?

Så, lätt tuggad strömming med tunnbröd och sovel samt en rejäl mullbänk på toppen kanske vore värt att överväga till menyn?

  3. Hatar verkligen de där hotellsängarna. De som kuggar bäddprovet på hotellserviceutbildningen blir fänrikar i försvaret. Lovar!

  4. Tom Collins=Jackie Collins dvs det borde gå att göra en variant på det. Hunter S Thompson=nåt jävligt starkt typ grön chartreuse eller Long Island Ice Tea, Agatha Christie är givetvis en gin & tonic och vänta – du kanske vill ha en partner?! Jag kan komma på drinknamn.

Astrid Lindgren och en Harvey Wallbanger. R K Rowling och Frozen Daiquiry, valfri smak, E L James och Screaming Orgasm. Typ. Sedan är frågan vad man kombinerar dina böcker med. Death in the Afternoon, tror jag. Man tar något klassiskt, lyxigt smeksamt och tänker vafan, det måste vara bett i det också och litet galenskap har ju ingen dött av 😉
