Take me out to the ball game

Jag ser baseball i Chicago med min agent. Eller jag SÅG baseball i Chicago med min agent, får man väl säga. I en liten stund. Vi satte oss nämligen ner och jag började förklara alla regler och olika sorters strategi och jag var absolut inte ”överentusiastisk”. Men jag skulle väl kanske möjligen kunna sträcka mig till att jag var ”strax över medel-entusiastisk”. När jag kom till reglerna för lönetaket och de finare delarna av statistiksystemet så frågade min agent om jag ”tänkte hålla på så här hela matchen”. Och när jag nickade (i stort sett helt normalentusiastiskt!) frågade han hur lång en match brukar vara. Och när jag svarade att de kan vara allt mellan tre och sju timmar mumlade min agent något om att ”det här inte ingår i vårt kontrakt” och att det ”faktiskt finns arbetsmiljöregler”. Och när jag då sa att han fattade väl för fan att när han gick med på att gå på baseball med mig så ingår det att jag vill prata ganska mycket om detaljer och strategi och vilka färger olika lag har på sina kepsar och så vidare. Det är liksom en del av upplevelsen. På detta svarade min agent att han före resan hade hört att jag skulle gå på en match med min fru när hon kommer hit om en vecka, och då hade han tänkt att om min fru stod ut med att gå på en match med mig så kunde det ju ändå inte vara helt outhärdligt, för hon är ju en smart och civiliserad person som dessutom är erkänt svinbra på att förhandla.

Så då fick jag förklara för min agent att den där matchen som min fru ska gå på med mig är på min födelsedag, och hela hennes 35-årspresent till mig är att hon kommer låtsas vara intresserad medan vi ser den.

Då sa min agent att han skulle gå på toaletten. Det var sex innings sedan.

Om han hade varit här hade jag förklarat för honom vad en inning är.

Jag saknar min fru jättemycket.

  13. Hej Fredrik, det här har inget med din blogg att göra. Jag har precis läst min mormor hälsar och säger förlåt, den var förbaskat bra finns inte många böcker jag kan sträckläsa så som jag gjorde med den här! Dessutom älskade jag den ännu mer för att Harry Potter serien är mina absoluta favorit böcker. Även fast jag inte är sju eller snart åtta år längre. Du är en fantastiskt bra författare och jag skrattade väldigt mycket, vill bara säga tack för det! ?

  14. Du vet känslan när man träffar nån man verkigen tycker om och han lovat att ringa men gör det aldrig?
    Man väntar vid telefonen i dagar, veckor, ibland månader. Nånstans innerst inne vet man att det är slut men i förnekelse hittar man på ursäkter för honom. Jamenduvet, han har ju mycket att göra på jobbet just nu. Chefen pressar honom otroligt mycket. Och sover dåligt på nätterna gör han säkert också och då orkar man ju inte mer än det som är mest nödvändigt. Men han lovade ju att höra av sig så man väntar.
    Tillslut tvingas man inse fakta. Han har någon annan. Någon som är mer intressant. Som han verkligen vill lägga all sin tid på. Då måste man själv göra ett aktivt val om man vill vara den som dag efter dag väntar vid telefonen. Och jag vill inte vara den människan.
